Other Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026

Revere's school building committee voted 5-4-1 to cut a requested vibration and geotechnical monitoring contract extension from $256,080 to $180,000. Member Rich Biscay questioned why monitoring that cost $23,900 for 16 weeks would cost $102,080 for roughly 26 more months, calling the original ask "a little bit of overkill." Owner's Project Manager Brian Dakin said the monitoring protects the district against future vibration-damage claims from neighbors or the MBTA, though he confirmed it is not legally required. The committee separately approved a $10,964,840.85 Consigli construction payment and a $442,750 Perkins Eastman invoice unanimously.

The soft-cost contingency fund, down from $2 million to $605,000 before the vote, will retain roughly $400,000 after the reduced allocation.
