City Council · Meeting of November 3, 2026
Chelsea's City Council approved $3.2 million for land at 260 Marginal Street and backed a 20-year low-income solar program. The Marginal Street order passed with no opposition and ties the parcel to the city's Enterprise Rent-A-Car lease, extended through 2045. The solar order, the revolving-fund ordinance and the fund authorization each passed 8-1, with Councilor Taylor opposed and calling the program a "backdoor tax." Councilor Hines countered that it "is not a tax on anybody who lives in this city currently." The council also sent the 35 percent residential exemption and a 1.75 tax-rate shift to a November 16 public hearing, and accepted an $11,000 recreation grant 9-0.
