Zoning Board · Meeting of October 14, 2026

CHELSEA — The Chelsea Zoning Board of Appeals approved five smaller permits and variances while delaying two larger, contested housing projects to November. The board unanimously approved conversions at 14 Shiver Street and 58 Lash Street, a sauna business special permit at 311 Eastern Ave, a commercial lot split at 426 Broadway, and an inclusionary-housing modification for Treetop Investments LLC. A revised 60-unit proposal for 320 Revere Beach Parkway, down from 67 units, drew written opposition from abutter Joanne Woodland, who called the nearby intersection "the worst in the city." A 15-unit conversion at 139-141-143 Essex Street drew sustained pushback from City Councilor Giovanni Recupero, who said the lot "doesn't meet any requirements," and several neighbors who disputed the developer's parking and walkability claims.

Both projects return to the Planning Board October 27 and the Zoning Board November 10.
