Boston council committee hears hours of testimony on two Roxbury waste transfer stations tied to fires and pollution. Chair Brian Worrell's Committee on Environmental Justice, Resiliency, and Parks took up docket 1241, filed by Councilors Miniard Culpepper and Julia M. Mejia, examining the Howard Transfer Station on Norfolk Street and a second facility on Gerard Street.

Northeastern professor Dan O'Brien presented sensor data from the March 16, 2025, eight-alarm Gerard Street fire, which caused an estimated $4 million in damage. ACE's Tristan Thomas said the surrounding census tract ranks in the 99th percentile statewide for cumulative environmental burden and the 85th percentile for pediatric asthma. Resident Asia Jackson asked "how many fires" it would take "before we say enough." Culpepper said a zoning amendment targeting the facilities has already been filed and referred to Councilor Sharon Durkan's committee.

No formal vote was taken.
