Boston PIC Approves Four Permits for Suffolk's $30 Million Roxbury Renovation

BOSTON — January 29, 2026 — Boston PIC clears four Suffolk Construction permits for a $30 million Roxbury headquarters renovation. The Public Improvement Commission voted unanimously on January 29 to approve the abandonment of roughly 24,573 square feet of Farnham Street, a private right-of-way in Roxbury, along with pedestrian easements, specific street repairs, and a facade projection license connected to Suffolk's renovation of 100 Magazine Street in the New Market District. Matt Brophy, Suffolk's Vice President of State and Local Government Affairs, told the commission the project will add 48 canopy trees, expand landscaping by over 19,000 square feet, and widen Magazine Street sidewalks from roughly six or seven feet to 10 feet. The Farnham Street abandonment was approved contingent on Suffolk providing abutter-service information requested by the Boston Water and Sewer Commission. The specific repairs approval was conditioned on final accessible ramp design sign-off by city accessibility teams, a point pressed by the Disabilities Commission representative, who cited "concerns about tripping hazards for the current design" at the Campbell Street intersection.
