REVERE — The Revere Board of Health heard warnings about an early flu season and an escalating Ebola outbreak at its October 22 meeting. Director of Public Health Lauren Buck said the Democratic Republic of Congo outbreak has recorded "more than 9,000 cases and more than 4,400 deaths" since May and is expected to surpass the 2014-2016 West Africa outbreak in scale, though she said risk to Americans "remains very, very low." Buck said flu positivity has already hit 9.5 percent in the western U.S. and urged residents to use the city's Wednesday vaccine clinic at City Hall or its homebound vaccination program. Health Agent and Director of Inspectional Services Michael Wells reported 351 trash violations, 70 land-overgrowth violations, and 54 temporary food licenses issued during October.
The board, chaired by Dr. Drew Bunker with member Viviana Contano, unanimously approved September's minutes before adjourning its last meeting of 2026.
