REVERE — The Revere City Council criticized a breakdown in resident notification over street closures and approved funding for a new police outreach vehicle. Councilor Maquina described commuters stranded near Crescent Street when a traffic signal stayed red because the street beyond it was closed, saying communication problems had grown so severe councilors discussed halting work: "van a tener que cerrar el trabajo porque no se están comunicando." The council president said he had not seen this many street closures in 30 years in office. The council voted unanimously to fund a donation account for the police department's new "vagón de cuidado" outreach vehicle and separately approved payment of the city's routine BBR TV public access cable contract.

A proposal to cap the number of tattoo parlor shops near homes and schools was continued to the council's September 28 meeting after staff said the health department, not the council, holds licensing authority. The street-closure notification motion was referred to the council's next meeting for a public vote.
