BPDA Board Approves 438-Room Hotel Near Boston Convention Center

BOSTON — January 15, 2026 — BPDA board unanimously approves 438-room hotel at 391 D Street near the Boston Convention Center. The January 15 joint meeting of the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation and Boston Redevelopment Authority boards, chaired by Priscilla Rojas, covered more than two dozen action items, clearing five development projects totaling 460,000 square feet and an estimated $240 million in investment. The 15-story, 145-foot all-electric D Street hotel, proposed by DGH Hotel Partners — which already owns the adjacent Aloft and Element hotels — drew unanimous support from trade union representatives, the Massachusetts Lodging Association's Chris Pappas, and City Councilor Ed Flynn, who told the board Massachusetts Convention Center Authority Executive Director John Barros "confirmed to me that they are supportive of this project." The board also approved the Rogerson Beaufort project at 434 Jamaica Way, a six-story building providing 66 replacement memory care beds and 41 affordable senior apartments after two years of community redesign that reduced the building from seven stories and 71 units. In his director's remarks, Director Arthur Jemison disclosed he would not recommend extending the tentative designation for the P3 site in Roxbury due to unfavorable lab market conditions, and said the city has accepted a state invitation to explore siting a reconstructed Madison Park Technical and Vocational High School on the parcel, with early analysis suggesting savings of $80 million to $150 million.
