BPDA Board Approves 776 Summer Street Phase 2, Dozens of Capital and Development Actions

BOSTON — June 18, 2026 — Boston's development board approves Phase 2 of the 776 Summer Street South Boston waterfront project and more than two dozen capital, leasing, and development actions at its June 18 session. The BPDA Board of Directors, chaired by Priscilla Rojas, voted unanimously on nearly every item on a packed joint EDIC and BRA agenda, with board member Mr. Shepard recusing himself only from the 776 Summer Street hearing. The Phase 2 plan, brought by HRP Group and Redgate Capital Partners, covers 6.8 acres and more than 1 million square feet of residential, commercial, and hotel uses on the former Edison power plant site along the Reserve Channel, with Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn testifying in support on behalf of the full South Boston elected delegation. The board also awarded a $4,520,416 construction contract to McKay Construction Services for the Fid Kennedy Avenue realignment in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, approved a $388,000 workforce training contract with Building Pathways to support the city's climate jobs pipeline, and set combined FY2027 operating budgets of $55,803,603 for the EDIC and $26,545,000 for the BRA. Finance Director Michelle Goldberg confirmed the agency is winding down a standalone equity fund tracking mechanism, saying the change is "just the accounting process" and that programming and funding remain intact.
