Public Facilities · Meeting of September 30, 2026

Boston Public Facilities Commission awards $661,176 school study contract, advances seven-year Nubian Square housing deal. Senior Project Manager Guy de Acevedo won approval for CHA Consulting Incorporated to run the feasibility study for a rebuilt Ruth Batson Academy in Dorchester, where a facilities score of nine fell far below the district's average of 28. Commissioners Larry Mammoli and Donald Wright also approved a $993,000 West Roxbury postal lease, a $400 Dorchester land conveyance to the Boston Food Forest Coalition, and an amended 99-year ground lease for Cruise Development Corporation's Nubian Square project, first designated in 2019.

MOH's Jamie Smith said the USPS lease remained "in the public interest" despite below-market rent. Wright, who filed a conflict disclosure to vote on the Cruise Development item, called the Nubian Square site "a very important parcel... it's just going to be huge." All eight votes passed unanimously, 2-0.
