Boston City Council Approves $9.5 Million in School Building Repairs on First Reading

BOSTON — February 11, 2026 — Boston City Council approves $9.5 million in BPS school repairs and adopts Carville Curry MBTA resolution. The council voted 11-0 on first reading to appropriate $6.5 million for window and door replacements at the Edward Everett Elementary and Richard J. Murphy K-8 Schools and $3 million for roof repairs at the Thomas J. Kenny and Hugh Rowe O'Donnell Elementary Schools under the Massachusetts School Building Authority's Accelerated Repair Program, with a second vote required at the February 25 session. A resolution by Councillor Santana supporting Mayor Wu's executive order shielding residents from warrantless federal immigration operations was referred to committee after Councillor Flynn formally objected and requested a hearing.
