Winthrop School Committee approves nearly $4.9 million in warrants at July meeting

WINTHROP — July 13, 2026 — Winthrop School Committee approves $4.88 million in warrants and hears summer operations update. The committee voted July 13 to approve expenditure warrant SVW 26-24 for $615,767.39 and payroll warrant SPW 26-26 for $4,266,446.01, with all roll-call votes affirmative and no dissent recorded. The superintendent introduced Brian Curley as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction, and accountability, and reported that the district will migrate from Microsoft Outlook to Google Gmail on July 24, eliminating a roughly $1,200-per-month licensing cost paid through vendor Balsam Technologies. Three staff departures were announced: ESP Natalie Fitzpatrick, elementary science specialist Marissa Greico, and occupational therapist Kayla Danielle. The committee also approved facility use for a Suffolk County Sheriff's Department CODA graduation in the high school auditorium, and the superintendent reported that the middle-high school gymnasium floor is being resurfaced after sections became uneven and unsafe.
