REVERE — The Revere City Council tabled a $125,000 request to fund design work on a broken elevator at Garfield School, pushing the School Department to pay for it instead. Resident John Kingston told the council the elevator has been out roughly a year, forcing teachers and staff to climb stairs with heavy boxes and complicating access for students with special needs. Councilors said the School Department had already received about $6 million for various projects, with one member saying "Ese dinero tiene que salir de parte del departamento de la escuela." The council separately approved a policy allowing body-art businesses, authorized a tree-replacement order near the Fire Department station, and approved a request asking DCR and police to boost patrols near Carey Circle after five crashes in eighteen months.
