Mission Defeats Dragons 51-47 in Overtime to Open 2021 BNBL Season

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Mission defeats the Dragons 51-47 in overtime to open the 2021 Boston Neighborhood Basketball League season at the Tobin Community Center in Mission Hill. The boys 18-and-under game — the first BNBL contest covered by Boston's community access TV Game of the Week in 16 months following the COVID-19 cancellation of the 2020 season — saw Mission build a first-half lead as large as 13 points behind 17 points from Andre Mills before the Dragons clawed back in the second half. Ousmane Aydin hit a corner three in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game at 44, sending it to overtime. Yusuf Mbuko, a rising senior at Tech-Boston, was named Game of the Week MVP with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Mission coach Chuck Davis, coaching his 42nd BNBL season and chasing his 20th championship, bluntly attributed his team's late defensive lapses to players "just showing off in front of the TV instead of playing with each other."
