BOSTON — Latin Academy Dragons rout South Boston Knights in Boston City League boys' first-round playoff game. The Dragons, entering at 16-3, led by 19 points after the first quarter and never relented, finishing with six players in double figures and 16 made three-pointers in a win by more than 30 points at Latin Academy High School in Dorchester. Junior forward Muhammad Ali, named game MVP, recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds, with Mason Lawson adding 15 points and Tiano Santos distributing 10 assists.
Head coach Dan Bunker, estimated in his 14th season leading the Dragons, credited his team's defensive energy: "It started with our defense — we were able to create a lot of steals. They were one and done." South Boston, led by Kyle Murphy's 13 points, committed more turnovers than points scored in the first half. Latin Academy, now 17-3, advances to face New Mission in Wednesday's city semifinal at Madison Park High School.
