Latin Academy Defeats Tech Boston 58-51 in COVID-Shortened BPS Season Opener
BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Latin Academy defeated Tech Boston 58-51 in the opening game of the COVID-shortened 2021 Boston Public Schools basketball season. The Dragons, led by senior guards Abdullahi Aiden and Mason Lawson and senior Muhammad Ali, overcame a slow third quarter and a late Tech Boston rally that cut the lead to three points in the fourth quarter. Tech Boston, which graduated all five of its senior starters from the prior year's city championship team, was paced by senior transfer Dakari Brown and junior Elijah Clooney, with Jamal Bogue hitting multiple three-pointers. The game was played at Latin Academy High School in Dorchester with no spectators permitted under pandemic protocols, and was broadcast remotely by Boston City TV as part of its Game of the Week series — the only way families could watch their student-athletes compete. Latin Academy is coached by Coach Bunker; Tech Boston is coached by Johnny Williams.
