Jeremiah Burke Wins 2022 Boys Boston City Basketball Championship Over Latin Academy

BOSTON — July 19, 2026 — Jeremiah Burke defeats Latin Academy 60-45 to claim the 2022 Boys Boston City League Basketball Championship. The Bulldogs, coached by Sean Ryan and starting four underclassmen including sophomores Ramsey Checo and Nakeem Singleton and freshmen Jaden Roberts and Jassad Fenton, built a 33-12 halftime lead at Madison Park High School's Matadome in Roxbury behind a first-quarter three-point barrage that Latin Academy, the defending city champions, never answered. Checo was named player of the game with 26 points, three rebounds, and two assists; Ryan said afterward, "We haven't won in a while — had some success in the tournament, but the city's a big deal." Latin Academy's Osman Aiden led the Dragons with 12 points, while senior Osasu Wogarin pulled down 11 rebounds; the loss ended the BCL careers of multiple Latin Academy seniors who had appeared in three consecutive city championship games.
