City Doubles Dorchester Winter Farmers Market Coupon Fund to $10,000

BOSTON — July 19, 2026 — Boston doubles food coupons to $10,000 at the Dorchester Winter Farmers Market's outdoor reopening. Mayor Michelle Wu, State Representative Russell Holmes, and three Boston city councilors gathered Saturday at the Epiphany School in Codman Square for the celebration, organized by the Codman Square Neighborhood Council, the Codman Square Health Center, and the Bold Teens. District 4 Councilor Brian Worrell announced that one phone call to the nonprofit City Kids had matched the Mayor's Office of Food Access's $5,000 coupon allocation, bringing the winter market's total food-coupon fund to $10,000 — a figure Neighborhood Council President Cynthia Lesh-Johnson called still well short of documented demand, noting that $72,000 in coupons were redeemed at the companion summer market in Codman Square Park last season. Wu also announced the creation of the city's new Office of Food Justice, led by Han Kim, consolidating food access, urban agriculture, and climate justice programming.
