BOSTON — BPDA board closes out 2020 with unanimous approvals of a 40-unit Roxbury affordable homeownership project and a $97 million hotel renovation. The board voted unanimously on all substantive items at what Director Golden called the agency's final meeting of the calendar year, including a green light for Kevin McGuire of Oxbow Urban to develop a four-story, all-affordable homeownership building at 25 Fountain Street in Roxbury — 40 deed-restricted units, 41 parking spaces, and LEED Gold target — on a site that has sat vacant for roughly 50 years. The board also approved the $97 million renovation of the Langham Hotel on Pearl Street, including a new Pearl Street accessibility ramp and roughly $230,000 in combined contributions to Blue Bikes, sidewalk repairs, and transit planning.

More than $430,000 in community benefits grants from Harvard and BioSquare funds were dispersed to 24 nonprofit and community organizations. Golden closed by noting that the agency's 2020 approvals set a seven-year square-footage record despite the pandemic, saying the numbers represent "construction jobs, permanent jobs, housing, affordable housing" preparing "a better future for the people of Boston."
