Boston Public Library to Host Intimate One-Hour Wedding Ceremonies Starting June 6

BOSTON — July 19, 2026 — Boston Public Library will offer one-hour wedding ceremonies in its Guastavino Room beginning June 6. Mayor Michelle Wu announced the program Saturday morning at the Copley Square library alongside BPL President David Leonard and Board of Trustees Chair Priscilla Douglas, framing it as an equity measure to make the landmark venue accessible to couples priced out of or waitlisted for the library's full-venue wedding events. Wu cited a longtime backlog for the full space and a post-pandemic surge in couples seeking more formal ceremonies after scaled-back COVID-era weddings. Minister Carla Firestone, who officiated an earlier BPL wedding giveaway program, called the room "a place of new beginnings" with "a sacredness" unlike any venue she has used across New England. Registration opened at BPL.org; no pricing was announced at the event.
