Boston Public Facilities Commission unanimously appoints Kerry Griffin as department director

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission unanimously appoints Kerry Griffin director of the Public Facilities Department. At a special meeting Tuesday, the two-member commission — Commissioners Larry Momoli and Dion Irish — approved Griffin's appointment effective February 22, then immediately voted to amend the department's certificate of authority to make her an authorized signatory. Chief of Operations Patrick Brophy, who had been absorbing signatory duties since former director Tricia Lyons departed more than a year ago, described the department as spending "$12 to $14 million every month" managing nearly $1 billion in capital construction projects. Griffin, who began her city career as a clerk of the works and later led the facilities engineering team at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority before returning to PFD as an assistant director, told the commission after both votes, "I grew up in this city. I raised my son in the city. I think it's very impactful."
