Boston PIC Approves Three New Streets for Final Olmstead Green Housing Phase

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Improvement Commission unanimously approved three new private ways and cleared a street discontinuance at its December 2, 2021 hearing. Eric Van Dusen of New Boston Fund and engineer Kevin Wright of BHB Engineering secured layout approvals for Warbler Way, Finch Street, and Goldfinch Court — the last infrastructure needed before construction can begin on 80 mixed-income homeownership units in the final phase of the Olmstead Green development on the former Boston State Hospital site in Mattapan, a project built in partnership with Lena Park CDC. The commission also approved the discontinuance of Red Cross Street in Roxbury for the Nubian Ascent Partners mixed-use development at Nubian Square, contingent on Boston Water and Sewer Commission satisfaction with utility plans. A Verizon New England grant of location petition for Geneva Avenue in Dorchester was withdrawn without prejudice — on the request of Verizon representative Karen Levesque, as relayed by chief engineer Mr. Leibing — so the company can consolidate two conduit runs into a single trench before resubmitting. Eleven new business items, including One Congress Street security bollards and flood-barrier plans, the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital Allendale Street streetscape, and the Winthrop Center Federal Street sidewalk expansion, were marked for public hearing on December 16, 2021.
