BOSTON — April 23, 2026 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission approved six public-way petitions and accepted three MassDOT roadways at its April 23 meeting, while advancing a 300-bed cancer hospital project toward a May 7 return. Chair Nick Gove, Interim Chief of Streets, presided over unanimous votes on three related Amory Street actions in Roxbury — including a grant of location for Eversource Energy equipment that passed contingent on Eversource signing a maintenance agreement after no company representative appeared — plus specific repairs for a 32-unit East Boston building at 279 Maverick Street, a tower-crane earth retention license for Northeastern University's new athletic facility at 262 St. Botolph Street, and formal city acceptance of West Service Road, Boston Wharf Road, and a Congress Street segment from MassDOT, closing out Central Artery coordination work supported by a signed MOU on tunnel authority. In new business, Howard Mosier of VHB presented three license requests for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's One Joslin Place hospital — a 14-story, 450,000-square-foot facility on the site of the Joslin Diabetes Center — with PIC staff flagging outstanding plan comments and the item continued for a public hearing on May 7.
