BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission extends two Roxbury affordable housing projects delayed by soil contamination and tree-canopy concerns. The commission, chaired by Catherine Craven and including commissioners Larry Momoli and J.C. Merton, voted unanimously at its July 22 meeting to grant a nine-month extension to Madison Park Development Corporation's tentative designation for a 20-unit income-restricted homeownership project at 75-81 Dudley Street — where a midwinter finding that construction would damage existing street trees forced an extensive redesign — and a 24-month extension to Cruise Development Corporation's designation for a roughly 161-unit mixed-tenure development at 135 Dudley Street and two Washington Street parcels, where soil testing revealed extreme remediation costs tied to the former Modern Electroplating facility that forced a scaling back of underground parking. The commission also tabled a separate vote to accept and expend $50,000 from the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund, with Senior Development Officer John Feuerbach citing an unclear affiliation with the Boston Foundation in the award letter; the item is expected to return in September. Cruise Development plans to apply to the state Department of Housing and Community Development for subsidy funding this fall, with a BPDA Article 80 board vote scheduled for Thursday.
