Boston PFC Unanimously Approves Three DND Land Transfers at July Meeting

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston's Public Facilities Commission unanimously approved three Department of Neighborhood Development votes at its July 22, 2026 meeting, advancing land preservation, a parking parcel transfer, and an affordable housing timeline in Dorchester and Mattapan. James Smith, DND's Senior Environmental Compliance Manager, won approval to shift custody of 15 vacant wooded parcels totaling approximately 80,000 square feet on Colorado, Alabama, and Kennebec Streets in Mattapan to the Boston Conservation Commission for permanent inclusion in the Mattapan Woods urban wild. Senior Development Officer John Feuerbach secured approval for the transfer of two Hamlet Street parking parcels totaling 35,720 square feet from the Boston Transportation Department to DND, the culmination of pre-pandemic planning with the W Street Neighborhood Initiative and other city agencies to create affordable housing and commercial space at Upham's Corner. Housing Development Officer Ann Conway obtained a six-month extension of the tentative developer designation for Boston Partnership for Community Reinvestment LLC covering 12 Dorchester parcels, a project that would produce 14 affordable homeownership units and two affordable rental units on land the city has held since as early as 1987, with a conveyance vote targeted for spring 2021.
