Boston PFC Unanimously Approves Four DND Land Actions Including Mattapan Food Forest

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission approved four Department of Neighborhood Development land actions in unanimous votes at its July 22 meeting. Chair Catherine Craven presided as Development Officer Shawnee Fletcher secured approval to transfer a combined 146,281 square feet of vacant land in Hyde Park and Roslindale to the Boston Conservation Commission for permanent preservation as urban wild. The commission also approved the tentative developer designation of Boston Food Forest Coalition, Incorporated for a vacant parcel at 632 Morton Street in Mattapan, at a purchase price of $100, ending roughly 39 years of city ownership and avoiding approximately $400 in annual maintenance costs. Project Manager Kirsten Studling won a six-month extension of the tentative developer designation for Dudley Economic Empowerment Partners at 20 Center Street in Roxbury, where the team is seeking Zoning Board of Appeals approval before a conveyance vote expected in fall 2021. The meeting closed with Commissioner Dion Irish announcing his departure from the commission to become chief of operations for the mayor's office.
