Boston PFC Unanimously Approves Five DND Votes on Housing and Open Space

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission clears five DND votes, unlocking 114 housing units and new green space in Mattapan and Roxbury. Chair Catherine Craven and Commissioner Larry Momoli, the only two members present, voted unanimously on all items at the July 22 meeting. The session opened with approval of a $225,625 grant from the Massachusetts Division of Banks for foreclosure prevention counseling — timed against an anticipated end-of-July expiration of the state moratorium, with DND warning that demand "will increase significantly within the next three to six months." Land conveyances approved include 40 units at 872 Morton Street in Mattapan for $200, 74 units at Washington Street parcels in Roxbury's Nubian Square for $300 — which will also expand the Haley House Bakery and Cafe — and a food forest at 632 Morton Street in Mattapan for $100. A fifth vote granted tentative designation to the Trustees of Reservations for a Roxbury community garden expansion at 21 and 23 Winthrop Street, though DND disclosed it received a neighbor access complaint the morning of the meeting and must resolve it before any conveyance vote.
