Boston PFC Approves Four Dorchester Homeownership Projects Under Welcome Home Boston

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston PFC unanimously approves four developer designations for 63 affordable homeownership units in Dorchester. The Public Facilities Commission voted 2-0 four times Tuesday to advance the first phase of Mayor Michelle Wu's Welcome Home Boston initiative, designating Boston Communities LLC for a 24-unit Harvard Street project at a purchase price of $400, African Community Economic Development of New England Incorporated for a 7-unit Erie Street and Glenway Street project at $200, Norfolk Design and Construction LLC for a 20-unit Geneva Avenue and McNeil Way project at $400, and Dorchester Design Collaborative LLC for a 12-unit Norwell Street project at $300 — all on city-owned vacant land sold at $100 per parcel as a direct subsidy. Deputy Director Jessica Boatwright described the program as "the realization of Mayor Wu's historic commitment of city of Boston ARPA funds for homeownership," drawing on 150 sites from a BPDA citywide land audit and a community engagement process that included focus groups, site walks, and developer outreach through the Builders of Color Coalition and Kings Amongst Kings. All four designated developers are BIPOC-led, women-owned, or veteran-owned certified firms new to working directly with the city on MOH land deals, and all projects target households between 80 and 100 percent of area median income with 30-year deed restrictions.
