Boston PFC Approves Foreclosure Prevention Grant and Roxbury Affordable Housing Land Transfer

BOSTON — July 19, 2026 — Boston's Public Facilities Commission approved a $225,000 state foreclosure prevention grant and a Roxbury land conveyance at its July 19 meeting. Chair Catherine Craven and Commissioner Larry Mimoli voted unanimously on both items. Christine McCrory, Assistant Director of the Mayor's Office of Housing's Boston Home Center Division, reported that the city's foreclosure prevention program — now in its 16th grant year — completed 144 intakes this fiscal year, helped 164 homeowners avoid foreclosure, and disbursed $1,653,000 in COVID-related emergency mortgage and utility aid to 198 homeowners since 2021; she noted foreclosure petitions "have doubled since last year." Development Officer Julio Pellier secured approval of the conveyance of seven parcels at 273 through 287 Highland Street in Roxbury to E Plus Highland LLC at a purchase price of $700, clearing the path for 23 new limited cooperative units — all affordable at or below 60 percent of Area Median Income and targeting LEED Platinum — after a developer designation first approved in October 2018 had been extended three times and a 2023 extension vote was canceled for lack of quorum.
