Boston Opens High Street Place Food Hall After Pandemic-Delayed Five-Year Build

BOSTON — July 19, 2026 — Boston opens High Street Place food hall at 160 Federal Street after a two-year pandemic delay. Mayor Michelle Wu, City Council President Ed Flynn, and Chief of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion Shigun Irawu joined Rock Point Group and Rock Hill Management Tuesday morning to officially open the 20,000-square-foot space, which houses 20 food and beverage vendors in a renovated five-story atrium. The project, designed by Gensler, Groundswell Design Group, and Canada Development, began in spring 2017 and was originally set to open in late March 2020. Wu praised the hall's inclusion of women-owned businesses and businesses owned by entrepreneurs of color, saying the city's pandemic recovery should "build a Boston that is for everyone." Marketplace Manager Lauren Johnson led a ceremonial first bites and sips moment before the official ribbon cutting; named vendors included Blackbird Donuts, Newburyport Brewing, Penny Packers, Tenderonis, and Wheelhouse.
