Boston Named Sole Northeast Stop on King Tut World Tour

Boston lands the only Northeast stop on the final King Tut world tour. Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau President Martha Sheridan announced Tuesday that "King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh," produced by IMG, will open this summer at Saunders Castle at the Park Plaza hotel, featuring more than 150 authentic artifacts — three times the number of any prior tour — including more than 60 pieces never before taken outside Egypt.

IMG representative Troy Collins said the Paris stop set a French national exhibition attendance record of 1.4 million visitors and challenged Boston to surpass it. The Egyptian government is building the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza to permanently house the objects after the tour ends in 2024, making this the last time the artifacts will travel internationally.
