Uncategorized 2026-07-22 clip6213 · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Boston Home Center director details housing programs and previews new low-rate mortgage product for city residents. Maureen Flynn, director of the Boston Home Center within the city's Department of Neighborhood Development, appeared on Commissioner's Corner July 22 to outline the office's homebuying and homeowner assistance programs, including down payment aid of 3 to 5 percent of purchase price and zero-percent repair loans of up to $30,000 for triple-decker owners. Flynn announced the One Plus Boston mortgage product — developed with the Massachusetts Housing Partnership and set to launch March 16 — which offers a permanent interest-rate reduction and additional down payment assistance for current Boston residents at or below 100 percent of area median income, roughly $97,000 for a family of three.

The interview aired alongside mayoral clips announcing a $500 million, five-year housing commitment and a separate $69 million award to create or preserve more than 1,100 units, the largest single housing funding round the department has received. A free public housing expo is scheduled for March 14 at the Reggie Lewis Center, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with pre-registration available at the Boston Home Center website.
