Boston's Neighborhoods Jobs Trust distributed $1.3 million in workforce training grants at a ceremony hosted by More Than Words, a youth-employment bookstore in Boston's South End. Mayor Martin Walsh and Director of the Mayor's Office of Workforce Development Trinh Nguyen announced the awards, covering grantees from fiscal years 2019 through 2020 and funded through the city's linkage law, which collects developer fees and redistributes them to community job training programs. Walsh also announced a signed home rule petition to increase linkage fee flexibility and said State Representative Kevin Hohn is advancing parallel legislation at the state level. More Than Words, a first-time trust recipient, operates a used bookstore staffed by youth ages 16 to 24 who are in foster care, court-involved, homeless, or out of school, generating $3 million in annual revenue.
