Boston Commission Approves $550,000 Grant for Woods Mullen Shelter Renovation

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission unanimously approved a $550,000 grant for homeless shelter renovations. The commission voted Tuesday to accept and expend funds from Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program Incorporated for improvements to the Woods Mullen Shelter at 794 Massachusetts Ave, a project that includes a three-story building addition, a five-story elevator, and a first-floor renovation. Project Manager William Evers of the Public Facilities Department presented the request, describing a longstanding partnership between the shelter and the adjacent Health Care for the Homeless program, with both organizations focused on "serving the community by offering much-needed help to individuals and families with great needs." Chair Craven and Commissioners Momoli and Irish raised no questions before voting in favor. The commission also approved backlogged meeting minutes from joint and standalone Public Facilities Department sessions held in February and March 2021.
