Boston closes its pandemic Resiliency Fund at $34 million as mayor announces final $3.8 million round to 62 groups. Mayor Marty Walsh used a COVID-19 briefing to announce the 28th and final disbursement from the Boston Resiliency Fund, the largest single round since the fund's March 2020 launch, with grants going to organizations providing food, public health resources, and basic needs. Across all 28 rounds, the fund supported 377 organizations — 55 led by people of color and 60 percent women-led — and delivered 3.7 million meals, 8,000 Chromebooks for Boston Public Schools students, and $1.1 million directly to families excluded from federal relief.

Walsh also announced that up to 7,900 additional students in preschool through grade 3 would be invited back to Boston Public Schools classrooms starting the week of March 1, bringing total invited students to 15,600, with all remaining students eligible by March 29. Chief of Health and Human Services Marty Martinez reported that close to 4,000 people were vaccinated at the Reggie Lewis Center — 45 percent of them people of color — before the state assumed control of the site, and said Boston EMS would begin mobile on-site vaccinations at Boston Housing Authority buildings that same weekend.
