Boston Approves $255,869 Contract Expansion for Mattapan Community Center Renovations

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission unanimously approved a $255,869.53 design contract expansion for the Matahunt Community Center in Mattapan. The commission, chaired by Catherine Craven and joined by Commissioner Larry Momoli, approved the second amendment to a contract with Studio NA Incorporated for architectural design and construction administration services at 100 Hebron Street, extending the contract deadline to December 31, 2021. Project Manager James Sessom told commissioners the added scope covers a full gymnasium renovation — including a new floor, leaking windows, and damaged walls — plus installation of a building-wide fire suppression system, pool refurbishment, and accessibility upgrades throughout the facility. The negotiated fee increase follows RFQ guidelines and represents a substantial expansion from the project's original lighting-and-finishes scope. No questions were raised before the unanimous vote.
